The bird as been whittled from a block of wood and the time taken was approx 12 hrs, You will see from the picture that the beak is open this was also done with stanley knife and does takes time but when done makes the bird come alive, The bird is mounted to a lime block, It's a unique piece and makes a good talking point when people study how the beak is done.
